Adopt A WINE Lot

What is a wine Lot?

In the wine business, we refer to a batch of wine as a “wine lot”.  Each lot is approximately 59 gallons (one barrel) or the equivalent of 24 cases of finished 750ml bottles.  In this new program, you will choose the wine lot to adopt, get your name on the aging vessel (barrel or tank), taste the wine as it ages, design the label, and help to bottle it all up.  You’ll get to take some of that wine home, and the rest will be sold in the Seven Birches Winery Tasting Room.  Yes… your label will be on the rack for all to see and purchase.  Of course, you can purchase as much of it as you like at a big discount.

NAMING Rights

• Choose from a limited number of wine lots (wines slated for production, determined by winemakers).
• Your name (or business name) inscribed on a custom plaque, attached to the barrel or hanging from the tank.
• Your own label design for the entire lot.

Lot Adoption EXPERIENCES (OPTIONAL Timed Invitations):

• Wine Tasting Preview – Around the time when young wine is entering its aging vessel.
• Aging Wine Tasting – Mid-aging sampling, approximately half way through the aging process.
• Final Wine Tasting – Near the end of the aging process, prior to bottling.
• Bottling (if possible) & Private Labeling Session – Based on availability.
• Release Party (up to 8 people) – Includes sampling of the wine lot with the winemakers, tour of the cellar and charcuterie board. Pick up the included wine and any purchases.

WINE to Keep

• One full case (12 bottles) of the final wine with your custom or commemorative labels
• Option to purchase additional cases at discounted adoption-only pricing
• $300/case or 25% discount/bottle.
• Remaining wine lot (with custom labels) displayed for sale at Seven Birches Winery.

• 25% discount on additional wine (only) purchases until your wine lot is sold out. Can be any Seven Birches Wine, including your own.

What does my adoption discount include, and for how long is the discount valid?

The discount (25%) is limited to wine purchases (either from your lot, or other Seven Birches wines). It does NOT include Rhythm Cider or other non-wine products.  It is for WINE only. You will get a 25% discount on all wine from the day you adopt your wine lot, to when your wine is finally sold out.

What is the case price of $300 good for?

The case price of $300 is for you to purchase full cases (12 additional bottles) of your own wine lot.  If you want less than a full case, then you would receive a 25% discount.  The case price is not good on any wine other than your own wine lot.  The 25% discount is available for all wine, until your lot is sold out.

I’m a club member.  Do I get a discount on the adoption itself?

Club members may adopt a wine lot at the adoption price (no discount on the adoption). When you do that, you’ll simply enjoy a 25% discount on all wine (even your club orders) until your wine lot is sold out.   After your wine lot is sold out, you will go back to your usual 15% discount. This program is a great upgrade for members that would like the better discount (25% rather than 15%) and who would like all of the experiences that come along with it. Club members adopting a wine lot would instantly become PLATINUM members too.

How long does the process take? Could I request a longer aging?

The wine will be made, bottled, and released at the winemakers’ discretion.  This can be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.  You may request more aging time, but that is likely to be in the bottle, not in a tank or barrel and would not stop it from being released to the public.

I’m considering “Leveling-Up” from Adoption to a Custom Wine.  Are these 2 things related?

These programs are completely separate and unrelated.  Leveling up… would either be in place of, or on top of, any adoption you did. Theoretically, you could be a wine club member, who adopts a lot, then also makes a custom wine. All 3 things are completely separate.

Where do the tasting experiences take place and with whom?

Tasting experiences are all held in the cellar and will be directly from the aging vessel (tank or barrel) with one of the Seven Birches Winemakers.

What is included in the 8-person release party and how is that reserved?

Your “release party (up to 8 guests)” is the day you receive your wine (case + additional purchases) and the day we release it to the public (within reason).   You will reserve the party with our club administrator or with Mark directly at a time when the wine is ready for release.  Your party will taste the finished wine, while taking a mini-tour of the cellar.  It also includes a charcuterie board as a snack.
